Galveston’s African American Museum is a highlight of District One. Clarence Josey is the proprietor. Among the exhibits are images of trailblazers born on the island who have made significant contributions to the community. There’s also a collection of yearbooks, including a 1946 edition from the historic Central High School, the first high school for Afro-Americans in Texas. – Councilwoman Sharon B.
